You can have all that heat Tommy, give me the frosty mornings, and the cool evenings.

Wow, I've seen all that heat on the weather maps on CNN lately. The whole country is red and orange, but I'm in that little green corner in the upper
left. We got up to close to 70 today.

has not rained here for a month. same in Buras Louisiana where I spend the week fishing. Came in once the tide slacked off 10-11am to escape the sun. Put a
bunch of speckled trout and redfish on ice. Could not get motivated to work on the camp after cleaning the boat and fish. Was on the MS river before light to
get a early start, dislike running the river in the dark, cannot see floating stuff. River is still much higher than normal.
nice electric bill coming this month. Cork

Heat wave here of the past few days (85 - 88) gone now. Low to mid 70s for the next few days. Nice steady rain overnight and till noon Friday PM till
yest'd noon. Tomato plants, all 12 of them are going gangbusters in their pots set out in the sunlight. Stiff winds out of the SW to W to NW now, 20 - 30
mph for the past 16 hours; whitecaps on the lake. Almost chilly. Box, painted and snapping turtles have laid their eggs in the sandy township road near the
bog. Mallard hens out strolling on the township road with their broods. Hordes of dragonflies out cleaning up on the mossies. Wonderful time of year.

The raspberries and cherries are just about ready to pick here. East of the Cascade Mountains where most of the cherries are grown, they've been on strong for a few weeks already. They get lots more heat over there. )n this side, we've had a mostly rainless, temperate late Spring-early Summer, with just enough heat to bring the berries on at the right time. It's not unusual that we have rain on the 4th of July, but I wouldn't bet on it this year. |

I grew up in KS; strong winds out of the south as I watched the August sky to the south turn brown with Oklahoma coming our way and temperatures of 105 or so.
Swore that I'd not live in such a place again; hate sustained wind, just hate it. I love thunder storms with lightning, rain and gusty winds - for a while.
Odd thing is, I don't mind winter wind at all.

that wind can stop too..its annoying the allergies. I ate outside for lunch the other day and something blew into my eye and i had a nasty swollen itchy eye
all afternoon. I was actually cold this morning ..But its nice to have all the windows open for natural AC. Im actually gonna have to bring a jacket to work
tonight. its 60 right now which should feel great but I actually got used to that heat.. just would like to subtract humidity

I love the almost chilly nights with windows open and the drapes blowing a little; makes me feel snug and warm with a cold nose. Grew up sleeping on limp,
almost damp sheets - crummy! It has often been said, up here, that more clothes and bedding can be put on when needed but in the heat/humidity, you can only
shed so much to stay cool. Not knocking "the south" at all. When it is -30F here....
